The Social Network: It’s hard having a movie about your life

I was wondering around on the Internet this morning and found an interesting blog about William Hearst and Mark Zuckerberg and the Hollywood film indusrty. The common theme, It’s hard having the topic of a movie be your life.  Check it out at http://prpost.wordpress.com/2010/10/10/zuckerberg-hearst-and-hollywood-pr-lessons-learned-from-the-past/

  1. I’m so glad you enjoyed the blog post. Also consider Dracula, which is loosely based on Vlad Draculea’s life (also known as Vlad the Impaler). He is a national hero to Romania for protecting the country from invaders, but due to Bram Stoker’s novel and subsequent Dracula movies, he is linked to the Westernized Dracula.

  2. This was a really interesting article. I recently saw the Facebook movie, and although I knew a lot of it was fiction, I found myself disliking the main character to a certain extent because on his rise to success he let his head get too big, disregarded his best friend etc. I also heard a lot of negative media regarding his donation and whether it was sincere or to save-face. Regardless, he is a young, very successful businessman, and with power and success come backlash. Also, I viewed Citizen Kane in a film class and did not know about all of the release issues that occurred at that time. very interesting read!
